Successful Web Design: https://www.youtube.com/

I think youtube is a great responsive website. I had a hard time remembering all the responsive websites that I use. I think a good website is one that is just a part of your daily life that you do not think much about. Like the Edinboro website. Youtube is nice and sleek and responds to your interests. You can change from light or dark mode. Everything is neatly organized from search options to video category suggestions. There is a good hierarchy in what is suggested. You can open up videos on your desktop and not have the browser cut off the video. Youtube gives you tag options to further explore and find new interests. Nothing is too in your face, and when an ad does pop up you can find how to close it right away. There is even a mic option to help find videos for those with certain disabilities. If I get lost or anything I can easily get back to the homepage by clicking the logo. When you go on the phone the website even looks like the app, though a few features are lost.

Unsuccessful Web Design: https://www.art.yale.edu/

This website is unsuccessful for many reasons.

Right from the top, the tab icon is just a ‘transparent’ png grid. The title, subheads, just random colors and in unnecessary blocks. The saving grace to this website is the button to stop animations. This website is not friendly for those who are prone to seizures. Another thing, I click on one thing and I have no way to get back other than clicking the back button. All the things that need to make up a successful web design are not present on this website. The colors are off, the texture and patterns are crazy, the rhythm is inconsistent. They have a good font but ruin it with the weird block/highlight. Which sadly, is behind everything. I mean everything, even the footer is not safe. Some of the pictures I click lead me to 404 error pages. I clicked a random block which lead me to a zoom class. I just feel like this is kind of an insult.
